April

We have been busy in the last few months!!

I purchased "Teach your child to read in 100 Easy lessons" and it has been going great! Aiden is coming up to lesson 60 and Caileigh is at 42. Each child seems eager and excited to be reading. In the last two weeks I have taken a break from moving ahead and have been reviewing past lessons with them to allow them a chance to have easy success. The stories Aiden has been reading are long and cause him to tire so by allowing him to go back and read "easier" short stories he seems to have regained his enthusiasm. We are also enjoying reading "Bob" books and other shorts, early readers. We also review and memorize sight words using cue cards placed around the house.

We have been busy creating lot's of different art projects. Different projects using materials such as glue, paint, and other mediums.

Each morning we are trying to spend at least 30min. working on our printing practice. Both kids are extremely capable at writing all Larger case letters but have been working on writing their lower case letters. B and D are difficult for Aiden to differentiate. I have tried to explain at the lower case b has a big belly in front of it just like Mom.

We have been discussing "making guesses". Yesterday we took a variety of objects and made a chart guessing whether the materials would "sink" or "float". After completing the experiment we were able to conclude that heavy materials sink and lighter materials float.

It is our goal to make it outside each day for a bike ride. This really helps the kids to burn off their extra energy and the fresh air clears our minds.
