Everyone loved this story this week, especially the littlest two.  I think were going on 8-in-a-Row:)

Bible  "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and soul, and mind."  Matthew 22:37
We discussed, how money is not everything and looked at Proverbs 15 and Hebrews 13:5.
We also talked about where a person's treasure is, there his heart will be also.  Luke 12:34 and sang along with the Seeds of Worship song.
We also looked at family run businesses and read Matthew 4:18-22.
We read about the missionary Ruby Scott.

Math  Both kids reviewed fractions and played this game.
Caileigh-subtraction
Aiden-Working on word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  Learning to figure out which skills are needed for the question and often a combination of several.

Language Arts
Our read aloud is, "Twenty-One Ballons".  Aiden got the idea to get a helium filled balloon and see if he could raise a Lego man.  He was able to make it work, however, he figures he would need at least one more balloon to really get lift.  We may get some more balloons and try again.
We discussed homonyms and came up with several examples.
We discussed personification.
Grammar-We memorized a poem, titled, Little Bird.  Continued to work on The Months poem.
Learned about "direct quotations".  Reviewed commas used in a list.

We started A Reason For Spelling B.  For the first time ever, both kids got 100% on their pre-test!

We learned about shape poems.  Aiden chose to create one in the shape of a sun, and using an idea from the text, he made his rays from the word, "hot".

Caileigh made her poem in the shape of a tent, and traced a teddy bear inside.

The kids made menus and signs and we had a Pizza Night!  First the kids decided on all the ingredients they would need to make pizza and they made a shopping list.  We went shopping for the ingredients and then they took each persons order and made an individual pizza to suite their wants.
Aiden and Caileigh also served us the pizza, and cleaned up the "restaurant" afterwards.  They learned what it meant to serve others.

We also made a yummy dessert pizza!

Science  We went on a walk and learned from our neighbour that The Bear is still around.  We went looking for bear tracks or scat but were unable to find any.  We did find deer and dog tracks.

We watched a Bill Nye The Science Guy video about the seasons.  We learned that the reason why we have seasons is because the earth is tilted.  Later, Caileigh was reading a book about Planet Earth on Raz Kids and was thrilled to discover that she already knew the reason for the seasons.

The snow is so dry that we are able to observe each individual snowflake and note differences between them.  We could really examine the ones that fell onto spiderwebs.

Fine Arts
We looked at the artist Henri Matisse.  We explored a fantastic website and each child got to create their own Mattise-like art.
