-Playing the "senses" game. Sitting quietly outside and seeing what we can see, hear, smell, and touch.

Activities from Evan Moore My Body
Touch
-playing a game blindfolded to come up with descriptive words for how various unknown items feel. Guessing the item. Discussing safe and unsafe things to touch......knives, hot stoves, pills, etc.
Completing a worksheet by circling and crossing out the safe and unsafe items.
Read, "Whose Seed am I". Learned about different way seeds look, travel and produce. Drew pictures of a made up seed and what the finished plant would look like.
Taste
Caileigh organized a game where she blindfolded each boy and let them taste a variety of foods. They had to guess what the foods were and then draw pictures of them.
Sound
Caileigh organized an activity where she blindfolded each boy and made a variety of noises using different materials and had the boys guess what was making the sounds.
Watched videos on senses from Sid the Science Kid, The Magic School Bus, Brain Pop Jr.
Read, "Whose Seed am I". Learned about different way seeds look, travel and produce. Drew pictures of a made up seed and what the finished plant would look like. Observed seeds sticking to our clothes on a walk. Reviewed how seeds travel.
Collected a variety of leaves from the yard. Discussed how they were the same and different. Compared each leaf to the others. Created leaf rubbings.

Watched The Magic School Bus episode about butterflies, their life cycle and migration. Completed worksheets on the life cycle of the butterfly. Went for a walk outside to see if we could find caterpillar eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises or butterflies.
Learning about Bears
Watching videos from Brain Pop Jr., and discovery education about black bears and grizzly bears.
Researched bears on Pebble Go.
Read, Backyard Bears, Jasper's Story, The Bear that Heard Crying.
Reviewed bear safety.
Coloured bear pictures. Labeled a picture of a bear. Learned bear life cycle. Learned about hibernation.
Read, "Little Nino's Pizzeria".
Read, "Owl Moon".
We learned facts about owls from Pebble Go, Brain Pop Jr (birds) and from watching a National Geographic video on Snowy Owls.
We created art about owls. The kids painted, cut and glued their own art.
We learned about the moon phases and used Oreo cookies to show them.

-Daily chores to help around the house from feeding the pets, to cleaning the windows. Each day they choose 2 chores from the chore sticks.
Read the Berenstain Bears and the trouble with Chores.
-Learning about the body and healthy eating and exercise through our body study. Each week Jordan has a meal day where he helps me to prepare snacks and meals.
-Each day we take the time to be active by trampoline jumping, running, bike riding, etc.
Read Franklin's Bike about bike safety.

-created a mini booklet on safety. Wearing a helmet while bike riding, a seat belt in a car, a lifejacket in a boat.

Practicing healthy habits while a stomach flu went through the house. Hand washing.
Reviewed fire safety. Read, No Dragons for Tea. Practiced address and phone number recitation. Reviewed 9-1-1. Went through various scenarios of how to exit a house during a fire.
Watched a video on firefighters from Discovery Education.
Answered questions from our Safetyville game about various situations and the right thing to do. Some questions are true/false, others are to give the best answer. Discussed a family password and times it might be wise to use it.
Practicing boat safety while fishing.
Learning about changes in life. Discussed how their lives have changed when they were babies and brainstormed all the ways. Read, "Something to Remember Me By", about death and legacy. Looked at a human life cycle chart. Discussed the stages, eg. baby, toddler, etc.

After reading Canadian Fire Fighters, Caileigh showed the boys the difference between warm and cold colours. She had them create paintings using only warm colours.

-Swimming several times a week. Jordan is nearly able to swim the width of the pool independently. He is building up strength each time. Jordan enjoys passing a ball in the pool. He is getting better at catching and throwing.

-Jordan loves kicking the soccer ball around and practicing passing and kicking the ball into a goal.
