What a busy two weeks! We've arrived in 100 Mile and are loving the cold, snowy weather. It is great for outdoor play. The kids have "winter olympics" and it includes 'ice cycling', 'sledding', and other fun events. We get out each day although the other day is was -16 and we didn't last too long. I am not sure that the 20min. it took getting ready justified the 10min spent outside but I suppose I could say that it was about the process.

Math-6 lessons. Working with the math balance, measuring volume, length, learning 1/4's.

Science- Went to the aquarium. Studied various types of fish, animals. Watched the beluga show. Really enjoyed that and the sturgeons.

Read a book about snowflakes. Studied snow with a magnifying glass.

Went for a nature walk around the lake. Explored the rocks, trees and plants. Noticed which things grow in the cold and which things don't.

Writing-Daily practice. Aiden has decided that he wants to be a song writer.He rearranged his room to create an office and even had a "grand opening" where he cut a ribbon and we were to clap and cheer. He uses this space for his song writing. He has a notebook and he fills it with songs that he is writing. One says, "you are the king, most beautiful Lord." He also gave Sean and I Christmas presents. A piece of paper with, "I love Mom." and "I love Dad". He says he figured love was the best gift he could give! Melt my heart!

Bible-Continuing with "Leading Little Ones to God." Exploring how we see evidence of God's creation, how God lives within us. Memory verse "We must obey God rather than man"Acts 5:29

Went to a new church and Aiden really enjoyed his Sunday School class. They studied Jonah and the Whale. The class was made up of 5 and 6 year olds and although he was really nervous, with my presence he was able to stay for the whole class and enjoy himself. We look forward to continuing to go.

Reading-Daily practice

Activities- Library, walk around lake, aquarium visit, train ride through Stanley Park.

PE-cycling, sledding, shoveling snow, running, exploring, walking, jumping on a big mattress in our basement

Health and career-We reviewed our earthquake and fire safety and created new standards for the new house.

Fine Arts- Making snowflakes, making snowmen, stain glass windows, baking!

Started teaching Aiden the piano. Learned about high notes and low notes. Found middle C and learning to play C, D, E with right hand, first three fingers.
