Math-This week, with the use of manipulatives, Aiden was able to add 3, 4 digit numbers together. We are doing review work for his 9 week test that we will do next week. Review includes pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, working with addition totaling 10, time to quarter hours, party-whole equations, etc.

Bible-Continually reviewing John 3:16-18.

We acted out Noah's Ark and Baby Moses. We read the story first, and then I read it again as the kids act it out. Everyone gets involved and it is a lot of fun!

Continuing with Leading Little Ones to God. This book is excellent and provides such easily understood stories and concepts. The kids look forward to this.

Continuing to read through Matthew. Our mornings were a little "off" this week so we only read 2 days.

Language Arts-Completed the Box Car Kids #2. Started Box Car Kids Special #3 and also "The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe." We sampled Turkish Delight!

Daily printing practice through copywork, worksheets, narration, letter writing and games.

Daily reading practice with Level 1 and 2 Beginner books from Library.

We read "Something to remember me by" and brainstormed ways that we could show Grandparents we care. The kids decided to send off care packages full of goodies.

Science- We have started our second avacado. The first one was starting to die and I think it may be because I was using untreated water from our tap. We are trying our second one using bottled water. We think we can see a crack forming at the bottom and we are hoping that a root is going to emerge.

We put celery in a cup with food colouring to watch the paths that the water takes. We read about how water travels through a plant in our "101 easy science experiements".

We studied our salt crystals under a telescope. Our cup with table salt created a larger crystal than our cup with sea salt.

We watched an Eyewitness DVD on Rocks and Minerals.

Fine Arts-Aiden spends his free time creating pictures and painting. It is fun to note the changes in his drawing development. He likes to draw pictures to go with stories that we read, eg. he draws pictures of the Box Car Kids.

Health and Career-Caileigh has been sick this week and Aiden has been taking care of her. He brings her water, puts cold cloths on her forehead and reads books to her. He has also been eating copious amounts of raw veggies and drinking plenty of water because he is afraid that he will get sick too. He despises getting sick!!

Activities-Aiden loves playing with Lego and does so daily. We played many "Minotaurus" games this week. He is getting good and I hesitate to admit that he beat me everytime!

He also created a Lego game of this own. He added thoughtful rules.

PE-Tried for daily outdoor activity. One day it was -35 with the wind chill. Aiden really wanted to go outside but I explained that it was too cold. I finally allowed him to go figuring that natural consequences would reign. He came back inside roughly 30 seconds later and announced that it was indeed too cold. He says, "The windshield must be -50!
