We just spent a wonderful few days visiting with Grandma. It was fun to show her around our new community and spend time enjoying her company.

Math-Practice in writing, naming and working with 1000's.

Bible-Leading little ones to God. Memorized, "The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

Social Studies-We ordered "My first Map Book K-2" and have worked through the first few lessons. We made large tracings of our bodies and colored them in. Aiden has made several maps of his own.

Language Arts-Read "Katy and the big Snow" and talked about the machines and people that must work to clear roads in our communities. We played with different materials to plow our own roads. We used pudding, shaving cream and even real snow.
The kids have been choosing to watch "Diego" for their TV time and have spent hours playing "Animal Rescue". They created an animal rescue area in our backyard and are remembering to take peanuts outside each day to feed our resident squirrel. They have asked to spent time learning about the local animals such as deer, foxes and moose. I've been teaching them some basic spanish.

Reading-Aiden has started a beginner chapter book called, "Pioneer Cat." He is reading a little each day. We are continuing to read aloud The Box Car Children.

Science-We did an experiment using an egg and salt water to talk about buoyancy. We first predicted what would happen with an egg in water then added the salt and predicted what would happen. I also gave the kids vinegar, baking soda, salt and allowed them to experiment and see what would happen. They enjoyed watching the chemical reaction.

Fine Arts-I started piano lessons with them using "First adventures in piano." Working on learning the parts of the piano and proper body and finger positions.

PE-With the weather warming (above zero all week) and the snow melting, we have been able to get outside everyday. The kids have been running around kicking the soccer ball, playing baseball and Aiden's favorite activity "Ice Breaking". He really enjoyed watching youtube videos of ice breaking boats.

Such a caring big brother!

  1. We enjoyed using that same map book last year. It is a really good introduction to mapping and navigation. I think I would like Ice Breaking too, it looks fun.
