We had a light load this week.

Math-Aiden had his first math test. It was review of the previous lessons.

With the use of manipulaitves, Aiden worked on addition with 4 figures.

Bible-Leading Little Ones to God. Reading through Children's Bible Stories. Reading Matthew.

Science-We were driving through our subdivision yesterday and we saw 2 moose!! The kids came home and drew pictures of them and we are hoping to read up on them later today.

We examined the celery under a microscope. Aiden drew what he saw. It was so interesting to see the tubes that carry water through.

After reading the Box Car kids we read up on Coral. We drew pictures of an underwater scene.

Language Arts-Daily writing and reading practice.

We read 3 Box Car kids!! The kids absolutely adore the series and it gives them such positive role models. I love it when the kids act out the stories. Today I heard Aiden reminding Caileigh that the Box Car kids play well together and that they don't fight. It resolved the issue quickly.......until the next time.

Fine Arts-Aiden has always been opposed to crayons and would never want to draw with them. Last week we were reading his Highlights magazine and there was a story about a girl who is a crayon artist. Aiden tells me that he always thought crayons were for "babies". He has since been coloring up a storm using crayons and really enjoying it!! Who would have thought that crayons would be a new art medium at age 5!

We made paper towel roll puppets.

We made sculptures using a dough that will harden.

Health and Career-We wrote out our family rules and a chore list. The main theme is "teamwork" and learning to obey and help "quickly and cheerfully". We are trying to encourage working through issues by talking and not letting anger come out through yelling and hitting. This is for all kids! We are trying to find ways that all kids can play cooperatively together.

Life Skills-The kids made Banana Bread using a recipe from their Highlights magazine.

PE-Outside play, dancing. Slide play in the playroom! Hopefully it will help to pass the time until Spring arrives.
