Health/Career
Healthy Living
I read "Where Do Babies Come From" by Learning about sex for the Christian Family. It discussed differences in males and females, the growth of babies and how babies form. We had some discussion but there weren't many additional questions. We discussed how bodies start changing and it's important to realize that everyone goes through these changes to they shouldn't be scary or embarrassing. I encouraged the kids to come to me for any discussion at any time.Career Development-work habits- Caileigh has been taking initiative for helping within the house. She will see a job that needs to get done (eg. cleaning the shoes by the front door) and she will complete the task with joy. She really enjoys surprising and helping others in this way.
Career Development
Caileigh and Aiden share the responsibilities of a pet fish.
-Caileigh struggles with staying on task due to distractions during school. She has been working on different strategies to help herself and when she is able to follow through, she feels great joy. There are natural consequences when jobs aren't completed in a timely manner and these are helping to build the work habits.
-Caileigh continues to help as a "meal helper". She helps to plan the meals and prepare them and is learning meal preparation skills along the way.
A meal put together by Caileigh as she tries to include all the food groups.
Christian Stewardship-Begin to give of their money, time, talents-Caileigh received $20 as a gift. She spent some time trying to decide what to do with the money and choose to put her money into the Sunday School collection. This term the class raised $100 and had a vote to decide that the money will be used to help a local organization that gives food to people in need.
Goals and Decisions-apply a goal setting model-Caileigh has made several goals for the summer-a reading goal, and an exercise goal.
Caileigh, Emily, and I sat down together to discuss our summer running goal of running around the lakes. We realized that due to hot weather, family visiting, holidays and other occurrences that we wouldn't be able to reasonably meet this goal. We talked about what you do when you don't reach a goal that you set. You revise your goals! We talked about what might be a more appropriate, reasonable goal for us to meet. We set a new revised goal and accomplished it! The girls were so proud of themselves for completing the goal that they had set for themselves. We celebrated the accomplishment.
Safety
Creating comic books for safety tips on being safe on the road, at the mall, at neighbours house, cycling/boarding.

Healthy Relationships-Caileigh tries to maintain peace in relationships. She has good skills in offering solutions to problems within a group. Caileigh takes initiative in helping people feel better and often practices this on her little brothers by reading them a book, colouring with them, or simply hugging them when they are upset.
Caileigh, Aiden and their friend Emily, set up a tea party for the two younger sisters, Mikayla and Avery. The older kids made invitations, set the table, prepared the food and served!
