MediaIn English the boys learned about the messages that the media puts out in regards to "beauty". They learned how to discern what are truthful messages and what aren't. They had to put together a presentation on what true beauty is.
Week 4The boys and I figured out what an individual would make working full time on minimum wage. We then roughly calculated their living expenses and figured out what would be left for food money. We figured they would have roughly $10 to buy food for dinner to support a family. I challenged the boys to make a healthy dinner for $10. We went to the store and looked at options. In the end they made spaghetti with meat sauce with popsicles for dessert. I added a salad:)

Mikayla and Caileigh have been hired (paid job!) to help provide child care during a women's Bible Study. The first sessions runs 6 weeks starting September 16th. It’s a good lesson on time management for school as the study is during the day.
Mikayla has been asked back to do childcare for women’s studies until June. The next session runs 5 weeks Nov-Dec. One of the families with 4 kids has asked Caileigh and Mikayla if they would be interested in babysitting for them. This has been a good way for the girls to make connections.
Mikayla volunteered at our church's VBS program. She helped with children's care, crafts, games, led our small group in prayer and was a vital part of the program
