I was upstairs doing laundry when Aiden and Caileigh spotted some worksheets that I had printed off in preparation for next week.
"Oh, Mommy can we do those right now?!"
I told them no because I was in the middle of doing laundry and they required some explanation.
"That's no fair! We want to do school"
I just had to smile:)

Math
Aiden continues with subtraction, time, money, 2 digit mental addition and 4 digit addition with carrying.
Caileigh-we worked with Singapore this week and she practiced addition and subtraction, word problems, finding the missing number and practice addition sheets from Right Start.

Bible- "I will sing to the Lord because he has blessed me so richly." Psalm 13:6
Bible reading. Character reading on Obedience.

Language Arts-copywork, journal, Write About Me, daily writing practice.
Spelling unit.
Raz kids.
Reading comprehension on cheetahs and snakes.
Read aloud- Fantastic Mr. Fox Roald Dahl
We made a map showing the underground tunnels and homes of the characters from the story.
Canadian Flyer Titanic 101 Frieda Wishinsky
This was to go along with Aiden's current interest of the Titanic. He has been busy reading books about it.
Grammar-action verb worksheet. Read 2 poems. Learned about using initials. Reviewed days of the week, months of the year. Completed a story/narration exercise.
Science

We reviewed similes and learned about metaphors. We write some metaphors together. eg. Caileigh wrote, "Aiden is a monkey."
Aiden wrote, "Caileigh is a horse." (he meant this as a compliment as horses are fast and they are her favorite animal)
We began an author study of Phoebe Gilman, author of Gillian Giggs. We read a short biography on the author. We read 6 stories written by her. We discussed how authors get their ideas for stories.
We took a favorite "bad" character from Tin Tin and the kids made wanted posters complete with an illustration of the character and a reward for capturing him.

Social Studies
The kids completed a page in their map book about capitals of provinces.
We read 3 chapters of The Story of the World. We studied ancient Romans, and ancient India. They narrated their learning. We made roman bracelets.

Science-We studied the difference between vertebrate(with backbone) animals and invertebrates(without backbone). We completed two charts.......one they had to cut out pictures of animals and glue them under the category of vertebrate or invertebrate, the second they had to cut the animals out and place them under mammal, reptile, bird, amphibian or fish. We answered true and false questions about vertebrates.
We read books on animals, watched videos on Discovery education and Brain Pop.

Both Aiden and Caileigh have been busy with Lego.
{Caileigh's, it's a house with a hay field}
