Math
Aiden-continuing with area, perimeter and multiplication.
Caileigh-I am working slowly with her on double digit/single digit addition and subtraction.  I am waiting for things to "click" with her so we are moving slowly and trying to get extremely confident on her facts.

Bible

We learned about the missionary Jonathan Goford.  He went to China with his family.

 We had friends over and created memory verse art work.  We put stickers on the canvas to write out favorite/meaningful verses and then the kids painted.  When the art work was dry, we peeled the stickers off to reveal the verse.

This is Mikayla's finished verse.  This was the first verse she memorized, "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good."  psalm 136:1.  Aiden chose, "Do not be anxious about anything" Phillippians 4:6 and Caileigh choose, "There is no greater love than this that He lay down His life for His friends."  John




















Language Arts

Spelling unit.
We wrote thank you letters.
In grammar we discussed the difference between complete sentences and fragment sentences.  We also learned about the four types of sentences: statements, questions, exclamations and commands.

We created rainbows using adjectives to describe spring.
Caileigh's words were: magical, hot, beautiful, bright, warm, colorful and pretty.
This is Aiden's and his words are hot, bright, sunny, fresh, loud, pretty and dazzling.




















Our read aloud this week was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".  The characters in the story have such exaggerated characters and personalities.  We discussed how this was so and then I had the kids create their own characters and draw pictures of them.   Caileigh created a character about a girl who read all the time.  She had trouble walking because she was always reading a book and bumping into things.

 This is Aiden's character named Jack Mud.  He was so dirty that he had trees growing out of him.



















The kids are looking forward to a movie night on Saturday when we will watch, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" with their Auntie who is visiting.

Science
I created a scavenger hunt and sent the kids outdoors to find all 20 items.  There were different types of animals, plants and trees on their list.

Aiden finished working on his Lego notebook.  It included a daily building project, facts and information about Lego, estimation, charting, multiplication and more.

Caileigh finished a notebook about butterflies.  It included an acrostic poem, facts about butterflies and caterpillars and more.
 Here she is coloring and labeling her diagram of the butterfly.

We were having lunch and Aiden says, "Yogourt must be a liquid and not a solid."  I asked him why he said that and he replied, "Because it takes on the shape of the container that it is in."  It's great to see the learning of "matter" put into everyday understanding.

Social Studies
We completed 2 chapters in The Story of the World.  The kids want me to rush ahead because we will be studying vikings next!

Fine Arts

We made pizzas using paper and glue.  We discussed fractions using pieces of wooden pizza for examples, up to sixths.




















PE

The kids started softball and running club.  We meet twice a week, for an hour, for running club and twice a week, for an hour for softball.
