Alex is working on his book report.

Learning to use microscopes. Examined pond water to see living organisms.
We visited the Revelstoke Dam and had a tour. It was very interesting to see how it was originally built and how it functions today. Alex said it was the best tour he has ever been on:)

Activities
-froze balloons of water and then used salt and a baster to create erosion. Finally put the ice balls under the tap and watched what happens with fast flowing, high pressure water.
-Did an experiment where we put 3 candies in glasses. The first glass was empty, the 2nd had water and the 3rd had water but we also stirred the water every 5min for an hour. We made predictions and then saw how the candy eroded.
-Created peanut butter balls with layers to show the layers of the earth
-Alex created a book on the layers of the earth
-Made a clay volcano and errupted it

-Rocks formed by heat, layers of the earth

Alex has signed up for Archery at Kids Club. For the next 8 weeks he is learning archery skills. He first discovered how much he enjoyed it in the Spring at our field trip to Gardom Lake. He is thrilled about getting to practice each week.
Alex participated in our church's weeklong soccer camp. They learned soccer skills as well as about God.
Alex won an award for Most Enthusiastic
Health Topics

-Types of health-social, physical, mental and spiritual
-discussing which activities fit each of the health topics
-benefits of physical health-strength, cardiovascular, feel good, etc
-discussed signs of physical fitness-increased heart rate, tired muslces, sweaty skin etc.

Alex is working on his book report.
We first discussed the terms eg. setting, conflict, conclusion etc.
Alex dictated what he wanted to say and I wrote it down.
Alex copied the words and created his rough copy.
We edited and revised his rough copy. Alex needs to work on spaces between his words and neat legible printing.
Alex completed a good copy.
He completed the Grading Rubric.

Visit to the Kangaroo Farm. We really enjoyed the Reptile Presentation and learned about snakes, lizards and other animals. Alex got to come up front and hold a tarantula.

Alex loves his meal day when he helps prepare dinner. He was thrilled to practice safety skills and get to use the big knife.
The kids had fun with an iced tea stand. They also sold bracelets.
The kids are saving pop bottles and every month we take them in for cash.
