Mikayla-Term 1


Bible

Year Long Service Project
Mikayla is helping at Kids Club every Thursday.  She is helping in the K-1 class.  The leaders put her in the class with younger kids because they noticed that she had a natural skill when working with this age group.

Service Project
Helping out at a fundraiser for Special Olympics 















Mikayla made rice krispie treats and a card for the staff of the seniors home.

English-Online-Mikayla loves these classes and completed 2 lessons the first week!

Science/Social Studies

We went to a  class at the Science Centre to learn how to use microscopes.  We were able to observe pond water and see the living organisms.














We enjoyed a tour of the Revelstoke Dam.  We learned about how water our natural resource can be changed into energy.  










A visit to the Kangaroo farm.  We enjoyed the reptile presentation and exploring the exhibits.














-Field Trip to O'Keefe Ranch.  Learned about letter writing with ink fountain pens and wax seals, visited a school house and had a school experience, toured the museum, did a scavenger hunt and saw  artifacts from the Vernon aboriginal group including clothing and baskets.

Project Builders Class-STEM
After Project builders, Mikayla came home and created her own chocolate creation.  She used mint chocolate and added green tea biscuits.  They were really delicious!  She dropped off a sample for her teacher who also really enjoyed it.





















Mikayla loves her new fashion template book.  Creating different fashion designs.

Mikayla worked on sewing a little felt heart for her friend.




 
 PE


Mikayla attended our church's week long soccer camp.  She received a ribbon for most improved.

-Mikayla created a goal to DART (A combination of art and dance) for at least 20min after school each day

Arts

Mikayla is taking weekly Musical Theater classes through Centre Stage Performing Arts Centre. They work on singing, dancing and performing and create mini performances throughout the year.

Mikayla is practicing a monologue to audition for a part in their Christmas play, Elf.
Mikayla has received the part as Shawanda the Elf.  She has lines to memorize by November.

Mikayla received a recorder and has been busy teaching herself to play.  After 2 days she was able to learn 3 songs.  She is busy learning Christmas songs right now.
