Third Grade Detectives-Preparing to write a book report at the end
Jordan has been working on his book report.
We first discussed the terms eg. setting, conflict, conclusion etc.
Jordan dictated what he wanted to say and I wrote it down.
Jordan copied the words and created his rough copy.
We edited and revised his rough copy.
Jordan completed a good copy.
He completed the Grading Rubric.

Activities
-froze balloons of water and then used salt and a baster to create erosion. Finally put the ice balls under the tap and watched what happens with fast flowing, high pressure water.
-Did an experiment where we put 3 candies in glasses. The first glass was empty, the 2nd had water and the 3rd had water but we also stirred the water every 5min for an hour. We made predictions and then saw how the candy eroded.
-Created peanut butter balls with layers to show the layers of the earth
-Made a volcano out of salt dough. Painted it. Using vinegar and baking soda, erupted it.
-Alex created a book on the layers of the earth

-Rocks formed by heat, layers of the earth
-rocks formed by pressure
-experiment to show the layering of rocks, sand and soil

Project Builders Class-STEM
After project builders, Jordan came home and created a chocolate creation using melted chocolate and Franks hot sauce! He gave a sample to his teacher and she said it was interesting, yet good.

Cake Baking
Jordan made a cake and iced it. He completed every step without help and completely independent.
Keva Plank Creations

Jordan had an Iced Tea stand and made money. The kids also sold min chocolate bars, cookies and bracelets.

The kids are saving pop bottles and every month we take them in for cash.

Jordan is signed up for running club at Kids Club. Every Thursday for the next 8 weeks they are working on running skills. The first day they ran 3km and he thoroughly enjoyed it. This week I invited him for 1km on my run and he has discovered he enjoys running. The most they've done during club is 4km but they're hoping to extend this distance as time permits.
The boys received a boat for their birthday and have been learning how to paddle.

Jordan participated in our church's weeklong soccer camp. They learned soccer skills as well as about God.

(Jordan got to try out a giant trampoline while in Osoyoos. He was able to do front and back flips on it and he really enjoyed it)
