Math-
Aiden- Practice finding diameter on various shaped objects. Reviewing types of triangles. Reading graphs and charts measured by 1 and 5 increments. Reviewing time to the minute.
Caileigh-Addition, simple subtraction.
Successfully counting to 100 by 1's! We threw a "100" party. We each had to bring 100 items eg. 100 raisins, 100 math tiles etc. We shared food eg. 100 pistachios, 100 popcorn kernels popped etc. It was Sean's day off so he was able to celebrate with us.

We played a game where Aiden brought 100 pieces of Lego and we went around the table each adding one piece per turn. It was neat to see what our family invention looked like!

Language Arts-Letter writing, daily practice. Some practice through our science worksheets.
Grammar lessons. Working on our 4th poem memorization. Reviewing days of the week and months of the year. We played a game to differentiate between common and proper nouns. We have our definition of a noun memorized.
Aiden and Caileigh have independently been reading a Geronimo Stilton book each day! We went to the library twice to replenish our supply.
Our read aloud was "Yikes Vikings" a Canadian Flyer chapter book.

Bible "Once a quarrel starts it is hard to let it stop so don't let it begin." Proverbs 17:14
Leading little ones to God and studying how God's children act eg. God's children read the bible, God's children work hard, God's children show love to others etc.
Reading about Moses. Read about the 10 plagues and looking forward to our history lesson next week which ties this in.
We have been working on not getting overly upset when things to wrong. Our motto lately has been, "There is always a solution to a problem." For example if a cup of milk spills we don't need to get upset. We just need to figure out a solution. We can clean it up, and then pour another glass. Problem solved!!
We discussed how God is Love. I asked the kids to draw a picture that shows the statement, God is love, to be true.
Caileigh's says, "God is love. I am friends with my horse. God gave me friends." ( we don't actually own a horse but I think she would like to)

Aiden's says, "God is love. People who believe in God can go to heaven." It is a picture of heaven and the streets of gold.

Science- Continuing our study of grassland habitats. We collected 4 different seed samples from a walk around the lake and compared them to one another. We learned about food chains and how they are connected to each other. We learned how everything is reliant on plants. We wrote out a little report on what we know about snakes. eg. cold blooded, reptiles, lay eggs etc.
The kids filled out a worksheet based on our readings. They needed to fill in the correct word missing from a sentence and join opposite meaning words together. They were able to complete this worksheet by working together without my help.

Social Studies-We are studying Ancient Africa. We learned about the Sahara Desert.
We watched a Brain Pop Jr. video on the sahara. We also watched a video on pharohs.
We made gold bracelets and paper necklaces. We colored worksheets. We also covered the Middle Kingdom of Egypt and the New Kingdom of Egypt. We are looking forward to covering Moses and the Israelites next week.
