Bible -Advent studies. Bible reading. Preparing for Christmas.

Language Arts- The introduction to spelling program has been a positive addition to our school. I am noticing that the kids interest level in spelling has been increasing. They are constantly guessing how to spell words and would like to start having regular spelling bees. Although we have a long way to go before we are good spellers, the motivation and excitement has been fantastic.
Writing thank you cards. Worksheet on nouns and action verbs. Journal writing.
Read-aloud, The Box Car Children.
Audio CD-Ralph S Mouse, Jonathan Park

History-Learning about Greeks, including the Spartans and Athenians.

Science
We had a busy week of Science. We started our Forces Kit from Heritage and it has proven to be fantastic. The kids have enjoyed it so much that we worked through 6 lessons this week, including 4 experiments.
We have learned about two kinds of force, push and pull. We have learned that friction causes things to heat up and slow down. We have learned about the effects of gravity.
We have just started conducting various experiments using magnets. The kids practiced writing up one of their experiments on force to determine if heavier objects are require more force to push/pull. They wrote down how to go about doing the experiment and what they thought would happen. They were both correct in their predictions.
We read books on force, magnets etc.
We watched videos on Discovery Education, Brain Pop and YouTube.

The kids put on a Christmas concert for family via Skype. They each played 3 Christmas songs on the piano, sang songs, recited poetry and shared their memory verse. It was a lot of fun to see them practice for this special event.
