We have been continuing to study Advent. We have been praying for the individuals on our prayer chain. We read our Advent devotional. We have been reading through the New Testament story of Jesus's birth.
This week we were learning about Joy. In order to provide someone with unexpected Joy we dropped off little gift bags anonymously. We wrote, "To You From Us" on the card along with a scripture from Luke. We had so much fun sneaking out at night and trying to secretly get the gifts to the individuals door without them knowing who we were. We would knock, make sure they were coming, and then run! Poor Aiden slipped on the nice at one home and began to cry so loudly (As only Aiden can do) and we ended up getting figured out when they called later that night to see if Aiden was ok. The other homes went smoother. We pray that these individuals would know God's love to the fullest! Although the activity was meant to provide Joy for someone else, it gave us so much Joy ourselves! We hope to do this each year and perhaps broaden our list of individuals that could use some uplifting.
We have spent a lot of time talking about those that have nothing. The kids have gone through their items and donated things that others might enjoy. We went grocery shopping and bought food/toy items that we could donate to the Food Bank. It was humbling to see how many individuals were standing outside in the line. I hope that we can help in bigger ways as the kids get older!
We have been baking and enjoying creating Christmas crafts.
We have been listening to lots of audio CDS!
Caileigh turned 5! We had a quiet celebration with family and will have another celebration with friends in the new year when everyone is healthy.
This coming week we hope to start our Science Kit on force that arrived from HCOS. The material looks fantastic and I can't wait to dive in!
