We have been discussing the idea of how we have "1st world problems".  We are extremely blessed and want to give back to those who don't have much.  Aiden has been brainstorming ways that we can help others.  This is something we hope to do more of as a family.

Math

We've been reading through the book "Shiloh".  The main character struggles with lying, although he does it for what he believes is a good cause.  Throughout the book I have stopped reading to give Aiden a chance to respond to what he thinks the character should do.  Is it ok to lie if you are helping someone?  Aiden brought up an expression that I have been using that says, "Wrong is still wrong if everyone does it and right is still right even if no one does it."  Much discussion has been going on with these topics.

Crisp arctic winters harshly set in.
A grey goose honks as he frantically tries to join the formation.

One night I woke up to a robot breaking in!  I tried to throw my alarm clock at the evil robot but he grabed my wallet and was off.  I grabed the phone and diald 911, quickly the police were asking me questions.  Then the chief told them something and they were off.  Soon they were back with my wallet and the robot.  I thanked them and they left.  I guess I should have checked my doors befor bed.

Lock Your Doors! 

Late one night I suddenly woke up in a panic, to encounter a robot breaking in!  I tried to skillfully throw my alarm clock at the evil robot but he swiftly snatched my wallet then burst through the window sending glass flying!  I grabbed the phone and dialled 911.  Quickly, the police arrived and began asking me questions.  Then the chief secretly told them something and the police speedily flew off to catch the robot.  Half an hour later the officers returned with my captured wallet and the apprehended robot.  I happily thanked them and they dutifully left.  I guess I should have checked to see if my doors were locked before bed.

-We're reading The Wheel on the School which takes place in Holland.  Aiden decided to do a report on the Netherlands and has been working at putting together some note booking pages.  He note booked on facts of Holland, eg. population, religion, government, etc.  He coloured a map of the world highlighting the Netherlands.  He coloured a coat of arms.  He note booked on some famous landmarks.

Aiden put together a map of what he imagines the land of Peter Rabbit to look like.

Health and Career

Aiden likes to think of what things he might do with his life one day.  He discusses any gifts he has as being a gift from God to use for God.

There have been some cougar sitings in our neighbourhood.  This has brought up some review of what to do in emergency situations.  We reviewed where to meet in case of a fire, and which neighbours can be counted on to help us.  With bike riding up and down the road, we have reviewed road safety and how to safely ride bikes.  Aiden has been exploring the responsibility of being able to ride further than the rest of the family.

As Aiden works through his report on invasive weeds, I gave a deadline to complete the report.  Aiden had to decide how he would use each day in order to complete the report on time.  He has been following this goal of a guideline to keep himself on track.

Aiden has been showing a strong sense of responsibility and initiative within the family.  He completes jobs that he sees needs to be done, before being asked to help.  Some examples are putting the dog in/out, ranking leaves, putting away outside toys before coming inside, cleaning the house, etc.

Aiden loves to help his brothers create lego structures.  He is a good model and example to them.

Working on G Major scale with fingering.   Tonic, dominant and leading tones.

PE

Aiden went bowling.  He lost to his Bupee by only 2 points!
