Fur Trade
Activities:
-Created a model of a fur trade fort.
-created an idea web showing 4 skills that an explorer would need to survive long treks and create maps.
-Caileigh completed a quiz on the fur trade. She received a score of 17/20. There were 15 multiple choice questions and two written questions.
-We visited Fort Langley and completed 5 activities of the fur trade eg. making barrels, making iron sculptures, panning for gold, carrying fur bales and pretending to trade at the store, etc.

Activities:
-creating a fictional diagram showing a safe house
-Watched videos on discovery education about the building of the railroad
We Read, "Follow the Drinking Gourd".
-We watched a video on youtube about harriet tubman and listened to the drinking gourd song. Discussed the underground railroad.
-Caileigh created a poster showing opposition for the building of the railway. We held a mock debate where Aiden showed views in opposition of Caileighs. Caileigh's true feelings are that the railway was a good idea so it was a challenge for her to present opposite views.
Gold Rush
Skills and Process of Social Studies-Describe significant events of gold rush
-Caileigh wrote a letter showing pros and cons of working in Baskerville as a woman during the gold rush, in a creative writing assignment.

-Creating school goals on when and how to complete a list of social studies projects
-Completed a weekly planning sheet. Caileigh had to write down the projects assigned this week and when they were due. He had to fill out how he would work on the project each day in order to complete it in the time given. I am trying to teach independence and a good sense of planning.
-Caileigh wrote a 3 paragraph paper on gymnastics and it's advantages.
-Going door to door and selling chocolates to raise money for gymnastics. Girls sold $100 worth!
Cooking Class. We made chicken ranch casserole.
Horizons Health:
-Reading about the effects of smoking and drugs on the body and mind
-Looking at pictures of people whose physical appearance has been destroyed by meth abuse
-Learning a variety of ways to say, "No" to peer pressure
(discussing when and how each method might work the best)
-Learning about feelings. Feelings effect physical body. Feelings effect thinking and vice versa. Learning about feeling statements. "When you.....I feel......." Writing examples in Horizons student book.
Discussing positive and negative ways to show emotions and feelings. Healthy ways to communicate feelings.
Fine Arts:
