Social Studies
We read, "Canada's Maple Leaf"by Ann-Maureen Owens, which discusses the history of how flag. We reviewed symbols of Canada. As a family the kids voted that we would create a flag to represent the Watson family. Each child submitted a flag. The kids each had 1 min to share their flag design. We voted through a private ballot and decided on the winning flag to be posted on the wall. The kids also voted to have a "Watson Day". Date to be determined but they are sure that the day should include no school:)
We Read, "Follow the Drinking Gourd".
-We watched a video on youtube about harriet tubman and listened to the drinking gourd song. Discussed the underground railroad.
Activities
-Visit to Scout Island for WOW event
-We visited a grand opening of a new health centre at the Canim Lake Reservation. The kids got to hear traditional aboriginal drumming and singing. One of the drummers even invited Jordan to play the drum!
-Fall Fair at the Kaspers. The children enjoyed putting together creations to share with others. There were 7 categories.

Food Bank Volunteering
Aiden, Caileigh and Mikayla went to the hockey game and helped sell food hampers for the food bank. During the game, Aiden won a contest and won $72. He donated the money back to the food bank.
Handing over winnings.
